Following a review of Aidan’s death, on the 19th June 2018, the PPS announced that a prosecution of manslaughter was to be instigated against former Grenadier Guardsman David Jonathan Holden, now 48 years old.
This was following the release of the PSNI HET report in 2008, the flaws in the original inquest and new evidential lines of inquiry.
The decision was welcomed by the McAnespie family and their family solicitor Darragh Mackin.
